Our mission is to provide a comprehensive bioenergetic profile for any mitochondrial related project, together with in-depth scientific and technical support to ensure that our clients can get the most out of their data.

Tom Grammatopoulos PhD

Prior to founding BioEnergetics, Dr. Grammatopoulos was Assistant Professor and Director of the High Throughput Screening Core at Boston University, where he managed a core facility focused on performing high throughput drug screening.

 

In 2006, Dr. Grammatopoulos was lead Cell Biologist and team leader for the Alzheimer's disease program at Link Medicine Corp, a Cambridge Massachusetts Biotech startup, which was acquired in 2011.

 

In 2004, he was Instructor at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital, in the department of Neurology working on understanding the molecular and genetic basis of Parkinson's disease.

 

Dr. Grammatopoulos has authored over 17 publications and is an inventor on 3 patents.

 

Dr. Grammatopoulos holds a Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin (1993), Masters of Science from Northeastern Illinois University (1996) and a Ph.D. in Cell and Structural Biology from the University of Illinois (2002).

Orian Shirihai MD,PhD

Prior to founding BioEnergetics, Dr. Shirihai was Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine at Boston University Medical Center (BUMC) and Boston University School of Medicine since June 2008. He is also Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacology at Tufts University.

 

He earned his MD and PhD degrees from the Faculty of Medicine at the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology. At BUMC Dr. Shirihai is a member and founder of the Mitochondria ARC (Advancing Research through Collaborations) which is part of the ARC system of BUMC department of medicine. 

 

He is also the Director of the Cellular Imaging Core at BUMC. Dr. Shirihai has been a R&D collaborator, consultant and SAB member for several US and foreign companies.
